Some Kauai Coffee and Eggs Benedict to start off the day.
(Click to enlarge) Waimea Canyon. It was absolutely incredible in person. Again, my images do not do this place justice. There were helicopters and gliders flying throughout.
We stopped at the Shrimp Station - said to have the best coconut shrimp on the island. It was really good and served with papaya ginger tarter sauce - also delicious.
The Shrimp Station.
Lighthouse.
Kauai Coffee Plantation - it's the largest coffee plantation in the United States. I bought 50 dollars worth of coffee - 5 different kinds of dark roast. The coffee trees went on forever.
We stopped at Tunnels Beach - so much sand the water is WAY out there.
The sand wasn't very fine but it was so many different colors. Mostly greenish, it was cool.
When I was taking this picture, the ocean was behind me. This was a river and when the waves were big enough the ocean water would come up and spill into this river. Some of the waves were so strong that some kids were boogie boarding across the sandy part where I was standing.
Another piece of the river and some lava rock.
That ahead is the Na Pali coast, and you cannot drive there - that's the part of the island where you have to either see it by helicopter or boat. It's all rainforest-like.
Tunnels Beach as seen from the lava rock jetty.
There were so many tiny crabs running around - I tried to catch one, but they are so damn fast. My dad also saw a big turtle in the water.
A pretty church. To the right of the church was an elementary school. Can you imaging going to elementary school where those awesome mountains were in the 'backyard'?
Awesome.
My Pina Colada and my dad.
My pineapple teriyaki burger.
And for the night I decided to pretend I'm not lactose intolerant and I got some Kauai Pie ice cream. Kona coffee ice cream with chocolate fudge, macadamia nuts, coconut, and maybe some other things.
