Jen + Ben | North End Engagement Session

One year from now, Jen and her fiancé Ben, will be married in Virginia Beach, VA, where they met. Although I won't be able to photograph their wedding, I was thrilled when Jen contacted me about an engagement shoot. Jen recently moved to Somerville for graduate school, and Ben was in town visiting before he left for Coast Guard Officer Candidate school... for five months! The couple wanted to take some time during Ben's visit to celebrate their engagement, so after learning a bit about them, I knew that the North End was the perfect location to spend our afternoon together. They were drawn to the North End charm, as well as it's proximity to the harbor. And selfishly, I loved being able to show them all of my favorite spots, especially since my time in the North End is rapidly coming to an end. Since there is a possibility that Ben could be stationed right here once he completes his Officer Candidate school, we fittingly ended our session overlooking an area of the Coast Guard, at the back of the neighborhood.

Jen and Ben, thank you for trusting me to show you around my home! Congratulations and I wish the two of you nothing but the best. I can't wait to see how your story progresses, and I hope to see you again in Boston soon enough!

Lisa + Matt | New Years Eve Wedding at Boston Marriott Newton

I met Lisa through my friend Michelle about three years ago, and the three of us grew close while watching tv and stuffing our faces with calzones, or take over the corner table at The Jeanie Johnston Pub in Jamaica Plain for a night of karaoke. In mid- to late-2015, Lisa, Michelle and I were going to a holiday party in Southie and Lisa invited Matt, a guy she had been dating quietly for a few months. That evening was so much fun, and Matt was so kind and easy-going and fit seamlessly into Lisa's life. They quickly moved in together in West Roxbury, and now instead of visiting Lisa and Michelle's apartment, I was visiting Lisa and Matt's new home together.

On Christmas Eve 2016, Matt proposed to Lisa during a quiet night at home and of course Lisa said yes! And just over a year later, on New Years Eve 2017, I arrived at the Boston Marriott Newton in the late afternoon, as Lisa finished with hair and make up, in preparation to see her groom for the first time on their wedding day.

Since it was roughly 2 degrees outside we stayed indoors for some portraits, before Lisa and Matt recited their vows in front of 200 of their closest friends and family. Following a lively cocktail hour, guests entered into a gorgeous and warm ballroom that was decked out in black, gold and holiday lights. I absolutely loved ringing in the new year with Lisa, Matt and all of their friends and family. It was one of my favorite celebrations of the year, with a packed dance floor until well after midnight.

Lisa and Matt, congratulations! It has been so great following your journey from the beginning, and I'm so happy I was able to capture this day for you!
