France|Spain Day Seven • Figueres & Girona, Spain

There is so much of Spain to see, so today my family and I ventured to two nearby cities, the city of Figueres and the city of Girona. Figueres is the home to the Salvador Dalí's museum, a museum which he chose because it is where his first exhibition took place, and a museum which he created himself. Girona is a simple city, simple yet pretty, and this time of year every year there is a big floral showcase, it wasn't too great, but it was definitely interesting.

Dalí has created so many works, so the museum was well worth the time, though it was overly crowded. I highly suggest this to anyone that makes the trip to Spain, his talent is too great to pass up. From sculptures to pen and ink drawings to art installments and to paintings, his work covers many subjects, time periods, and styles. And after visiting the Dalí museum? Stop by the Dalícatessen, solely because it's one of the greatest gastronomic puns I have come across in my life.

The outside of the museum, designed by Dalí, is covered in loaves bread and topped with eggs.

Dalí's crypt.

In person, it took us a while to realize this was Abe Lincoln.

The flower festival ended up being extremely interesting. A lot of it didn't even incorporate real flowers and many installations looked like kids craft projects.

Girona is a gorgeous city nonetheless.
