It is crazy how much time and energy goes into planning every detail of a wedding, and then when the big day arrives, it's all over in a flash! Everyone says how fast your wedding day goes by, and it is so true. And while I feel this with every couple and every wedding that I've had the honor of documenting, it felt even more true with Flora and Efrain's big day. You may remember this pair from their fall engagement session last October with their adorable, albeit anxious pup, Koji.
After a relaxing morning of preparations and anticipation, Flora, her ladies and I headed to Ryan Playground in Mattapan to meet up with Efrain and the groomsmen for their first look on the Harvest Bridge and a gorgeous tree-covered pathway. It was a perfect and sunny mid-September day, and everyone was looking forward to the evening of celebration. Little did they know, there was a surprise in store...
During the ceremony, Flora and Efrain shared handwritten vows and sealed them with a kiss as the sun set behind the tree line of the Milton Hoosic Club. After a quick outfit change, into a traditional Chinese dress, and Efrain in matching tie, the newly married couple shared in a tea ceremony with their closest family members.
Once Flora and Efrain were introduced into the ceremony and speeches were done, it was time for the couples surprise for their guests. Traditional Chinese Lion Dancers burst into the reception and put on a show to remember, it was one of the coolest traditions I've been lucky enough to photograph.
As musicians created the beat, the lions danced to bring good luck and fortune. It was the perfect way to kick off the party, and once dinner was done, Flora, Efrain and their friends and families danced the night away!
Congratulations!!
