Leslie + Andrew | New Bedford Whaling Museum Wedding

On a quiet, cloudy Saturday in early October, I made my way to the New Bedford Whaling Museum to photograph Leslie and Andrew's wedding. The pair planned their wedding from their home in Alaska, with help from family in the New England area. I grew up with Leslie's cousins in Northeastern Pennsylvania, and they put me in touch with Leslie and Andrew's family.

Years back, both Leslie and Andrew lived in Providence, Rhode Island at the same time, yet didn't know each other. Andrew grew up in the area and Leslie was a student at Brown University. Separately, they both relocated to Alaska where they met at a party and bonded over her love and his hate of the Ocean State. Together, they now happily live in a geodome (wait till you see their cake!) in Southwestern Alaska.

My favorite part of Leslie and Andrew's wedding was how hard they worked to make it completely their own. From the unique venue, to Leslie's gorgeous red dress, every piece was special to them. They chose to forgo the traditional bridal party because to them, it is simply about marrying your best friend and sharing that experience with loved ones. The newlyweds even shared their first dance with all their guests, followed by a lively evening full of sing-a-longs and lots of dancing. Leslie and Andrew enjoyed every minute, exactly how they intended.

Congratulations to the both of you, I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from this special day!
