Christine + David | Omni Parker House Elopement

In my seven years as a Boston wedding photographer, I've had the opportunity to photograph many unique unions, but never something as special as this: on an unusually warm Friday in November, David and Christine eloped. What made this even more unique, is that David and Christine aren't even from Boston, or even from The United States. They are from a Gourock, Scotland!

In 1998, David and Christine met at a local bar in their hometown where David gave Christine his number. But it would be about eight months before she decided to give him a call. Slowly, they began dating, and in 2006, after David had proposed to Christine at their favorite hotel in Scotland in Dunkeld (where she kept him waiting for 2 days before finally saying 'yes'...), they went back to Boston to stay again at the Omni Parker House hotel, where they got engaged when David put the ring on Christine's finger while enjoying a romantic dinner for two at Table 40 in Parker's Restaurant where JFK famously proposed to Jackie in 1953, only telling their families when they returned, also telling them they would get married when they had their own place together.

This happened after a few years, but as they said to me 'life sort of got in the way' and it was early in 2016 that they decided it was finally time to do something about it. As their families live quite far apart in Scotland, in the same way they 'eloped' to Boston to get engaged they decided to do the same to get married and secretly planned an intimate ceremony at the Omni Park House to be followed by two separate family receptions back home, with the families only knowing about it when they got a card through their doors after David and Christine had flown out on Sunday, November 13th (with the front of the card saying 'At Last...').

On Friday, November 18th, I met David and Christine in the Dickens Suite at the Omni Parker House hotel. After a few photographs on the roof and across the street at Boston's Old City Hall, the three of us joined officiant, Alan Ulrich, in the Dickens Suite so David and Christine could exchange their much anticipated vows. Their sweet ceremony was followed by a quiet, romantic dinner at Table 40, for just the newlyweds.

It was an honor and a privilege to be one of two people invited to witness the union of this incredible couple. David and Christine, thank you so much for inviting me into your lives, and sharing your story with me. I wish the two of you nothing but the best in the future!
