Cara + Jay | New Years Eve Wedding | Indian Pond Country Club

In July 2013, an old friend convinced me to join November Project, a workout community that began in Boston and 'is now in multiple cities across four timezones'. Even though it was already 85 degrees at 6:30am, I reluctantly "Just Showed Up" and made it about halfway around the Harvard Stadium bleachers before almost puking. But I was hooked. I began making November Project part of my routine and not only did I notice a significant increase in my fitness level, I also made some friends. One of these friends was Tommy, a former Boston Herald sports journalist (Tommy wrote a great piece for the Herald about November Project, you can find it here.) He later introduced me to his brother, Jay, and Jay's girlfriend Cara, who also frequented the November Project workouts. Two years later, Cara and Jay asked me to photograph their New Year's Eve wedding at Indian Pond Country Club

Although I’m not a fan of NYE as a celebration, I think it’s a perfect date for a wedding! Cara & Jay’s date choice mirrored my own feelings about the holiday, which made for an easy relationship. 2015 is now over, but Cara & Jay’s journey as Mr. & Mrs. Layman has just begun! Cara grew up as a dancer, while Jay taught himself how to dance in his basement, later surprising friends and family with his talent. They met when they both were asked to join DanceWorks Boston, in it’s infancy, and came to love dance together.

After dinner, Jay opened the dance floor by challenging his friend to a dance battle. Cara and the DanceWorks crew joined in, making it near impossible for the rest of their friends and family to not hit the dance floor, myself included! The celebration continued after the ball drop, into the wee hours of the new year. Their NYE Wedding was full of champagne, love and of course, LOTS of dancing!

I had an amazing time ringing in the new year with you, your friends and family. Thank you for choosing me to document not only your first moments of 2016, but your first moments as man and wife!

  1. I picked up some orchids from BloomThat Bouquets for the grand opening of my business in the financial district and they really made my store front/ reception desk pop!
